Have Modem 1 going from ethernet port to a ethernet port on Modem 2 which broadcasts its SSID but no internet went you logon
Thanks for any help

What are you trying to achieve? One modem two wifi networks?

yep not really clear, bridging kind of implies spanning a physical space wirelessly, which i'm not sure an ISP provided modem would be clever enough to do

Use your brain. First issue is the IP address conflict if connected via LAN ports. Second issue is DHCP server conflict if connected via LAN ports. How would you resolve.

One way around is to double NAT, LAN to WAN. Issue with that is that WAN interface will expect vlan 10 tag so how would you resolve that.

Other thing was that default Spark Huawei firmware caused router to go into captive portal state if its WAN wasn't connected thus forcing a double NAT solution (or bridge of WAN interface - the Huaweis did have WAN interface bridge settings but may only work for VDSL and passing through of Public IP).

Little things to think about.

Hi Acura i am trying to achieve having 2 modems which are the same make/model connected by ethernet broadcasting the same SSID so my large villa has strong internet throughout and do not want to do it the simple way by buying a wifi extender

Ya so keep you main modem as is - network cable from lan ports to lan ports, second modem you will need to do two things - disable DHCP and change the unit IP address so that itn't same but within the same network group. Top of my head spark used 192.168.1.1254 so change you secondary modem ip to 192.168.1.2
The SSID can be changed to the same but unsure if you wifi divices would switch between seamlessly - unless they are miles apart.

Hi Spyware i am using my brain thats why i am asking for help lol . unfortunately it is not the Huawei smart modem it is the arcadyan one with very few settings. but thanks for the ideas , tend to get tunnel vision and put things thru the complicator

Generally you can't run 2 DHCP modem/ servers on a single internet connection, one must DCHP turned off.
What you are trying to do is use the second modem as a wireless AP, which is what we used to do a lot back in the early days of internet & expensive AP's.

As far as domestic households go .... DON'T.
It's a headache thats easily avoided by using a simple wireless AP .

You can go the mains power adapters (powerline etc) or a std AP with wireless extender.

With an AP, you will only need a single IP.
With the dual setup you are wanting, you would in most cases, end up with 2 IP's on the same network & a PITA for connecting directly to each network modem for any settings adjustments

LOL, "tend to get tunnel vision and put things thru the complicator"

Why? You just need to know the two IP addresses and type it in irrespective of what access point you are connecting to - same network range and all.
... and frankly why not try you already have the hardware - if it's not the best then go to plan B - either way it's a nice learning curve.

Does the second modem your using have an 'access point' mode? if so then that should be enabled. As others have said, it'll need DHCP disabled and need to be running on a different IP (but in the same subnet, e.g if your main modem is 192.168.1.1, your second one could be 192.168.1.2)

Just plugged a Belkin N600 router i found in the box of dreams and it worked fine all i did reset it and changed the SSID and password thanks for the help

Snap. I use a Belkin N600 on the other end of a powerline adaptor. Turned off the DHCP and leave the wireless and hub functions on. Phone joins the access point with the strongest setting when it has to reconnect.

Use mesh:

ss-Mesh-Network

It's what its designed for.

Are they routers or modems? I think you might have the terms confused.

Do you have two external internet connections (hence the need for two modems)?

What I think you're trying to do is you've got one external internet connection and you want to connect two wifi routers to it via ethernet cables so you've got good wifi throughout your large house. Is that right?
