I woke up this morning to find someone had parked their van and caravan in our street and was quite obviously sleeping in it. I don’t know why they can’t be taking busloads of these people over to pick fruit. Well I do, many of them have addiction problems. | 16 | Pre-Covid the offending Freedom Campers were generally identified as young foreigners travelling the country - perhaps picking up some seasonal/casual work. From my observations, most of these have long left the country. So .... what demographic has moved into the current echelon of 'freedom campers'??? There don't seem to be as many of the 'van' type vehicles occupied by younger people with a mattress in the back about the place - but there are a lot more caravans and campers that don't have fixed holding tanks which can hold a decent volume of waste. Since this is a real estate board, feel free to check out the rules around rentals these days. Start with the Residential Tenancies Act but don't stop there.
