Housed in rotorua...
Why was it taken down? The place looks like shit and I believe we should say something

I didn’t see what happened to it.

I agree it needs talking about.

Unfortunately though, it is no longer just rotorua suffering from these issues.

I feel air bnb is a big problem. But also the local council is useless.

We need more sections a available. I spoke to a builder the other day, he can’t find a section to build a house for himself even.

It’s a total disaster. Years of procrastination and no action.

was it you who is living here now??? I can’t remember sorry. I have lived here most of my life and trust me when I tell you the last 10 years things have got really BAD.

My husband works a lot in town and he talks to the security guards and Maori wardens. A lot of the homeless are from other towns. Another big problem is people retiring here from Auckland. Suddenly there is a big drag on the health system because it hadn’t catered for them. (Guess that happens when the census is all but useless) There aren’t enough nice low maintenance townhouses for retirement etc

Maybe you should stop complaining about investors.
If people want housing then someone must put up the money and manage the risks.

investors are a large part of the problem too. Over the last 10-15 years many from out of town have bought here. Don’t tell me they are doing it out of the goodness of their heart to ‘help’ people. That old chestnut is so worn out. If it weren’t for them snapping up low priced property more would be available for people to own. It’s just some peop have struggled to get deposits. If the govt had helped young ones like they have in the past (to the same degree) then more people would be homeowners now instead of the rate of home ownership declining.

Not complaining about investors, im complaining about those who have been housed and treat it like shit, I love rotorua but honestly I feel threatened for being white, yes white, apparently white privilege..... my up bringing was far from privileged

Allowing tens of thousands of people into the country every year has a far greater effect than investors ever will.
