Backspace Key

#Post

The backspace key on all three of my computers has stopped working in web pages. It's OK in word etc documents and this document. Is this the result of a MS "fix"?
Win 10 home and pro, Dell PCs.

Sounds odd. Are you using the same browser in all cases ? Have you tried a different browser?

in chrome I believe you now need to use ALT Left Arrow

I'm sure there was a good reason for them changing it...

I have used Firefox for ever, just tried Edge - same result. Weird.
I am aware of chrome - I also have a Chromebook. This is about Windows.

Looks like Firefox have only just implemented this. might be why you've just struck this problem. Chrome changed it in 2016. it's a browser specific implementation, nothing to do with windows settings, but since Edge is based on Chrome it will already be using ALT Left...

Thank you King1 et al. Saves me disassembling my keyboards to find a common fault. I've never had the problem discussed in the zdnet paper. Looks like I will have to retrain myself. Alt-left arrow - pfft.

I didn't even realize this has changed, I use a mouse with back and forward buttons near the where my thumb sits, so have haven't tried to go back in my web browser by using the keyboard for ages!

The chance of that would be around zero.

OP, Backspace to go Previous page has been removed from Chrome a long time ago, I'm using an extension called "Go Back With Backspace" since which enable the function again.

Well that's my problem answered! Backspace with Firefox, only stopped working a couple of days ago....
It's worth scrolling when you come for computer help. Just need to get into the habit of using alt and back arrow now LOL
