e reader problems

#Post
1

I have a Kobo & an Kindle e-reader. I use the Kobo mainly as it I like it best & can also download books from the library on it. I keep the Kindle as the range of available books is better. Up until recently I have just put whichever one I am using on top of the other when not in use. Then I started having problems with the Kindle, it would show that it had 90% power available but still needed a substantial time on the charger to work. It also humped pages, scrambled the print on pages. A technician reset it to factory & it's sort of OK but still jumps a bit. Is the fact of me storing one on top another a factor in the problem? ( I don't do it now)

How old is the kindle?

Your kindle has developed a fault. Stacking them on top when not in use is not the cause.

It is 3 months old, &has not had a lot of use. I took it back to the store where it was bought saying that I wanted either a refund or an exchange. To me it is not fit for purpose, the purpose being to download & easily read a book on it. I was told that the guarantee on it did not include the software! The Tech re-set it to factory standard & it goes reasonably well, but still skips pages, especially if I try to go back a couple of pages to check a point in the story. I don't have this problem with my Kobo

Does it skip on a number of books you have, or just the one you're reading? First suggestion would be to remove the book from your Kindle e-reader (device only, do not delete from the account). Re-download it to see if that resolves the issue. (Select title, use 'Actions' (...) to deliver it to the Kindle.)

You could also look at the review of the title on Amazon to know if the current file may have become corrupt. Consider posting a brief review regarding the problem to warn other readers. (Remove the review if the glitch is device specific.) There's also the option, at the bottom of the listing page, to advise Amazon of issues with the book.

There's also the option to do live chat with Amazon staff who might be able to help if you've narrowed down that the issue is definitely the e-reader rather that the book title.
