too much ceiling insulation, is it a thing?

Need to perform a top up to meet healthy homes regs, northland region. It is actually cheaper to install R3.6 as opposed to a R1.8 blanket. This would go on top of existing R1.8. My mind says to go with the higher rating, but could this cause sweating or any other issues?

I've got a double layer of 4.2 batts in our house, no issues so far. ceiling space still ventilates fine.

there is situations where you can get a sort of "to much insulation" but northland is not cold enough for that to be an issue.
by mem the problem is when you have thick insulation on the bottom and a thin layer on top. moisture coming through hits the cold thin insulation and condenses.

a little surprised you can get R3.6 cheaper than R1.8.

Better to be overrated than underrated
