"MILO" VEST HELP, please....

#Post

I cannot for the life of me figure what LENGTH OF CIRCULAR NEEDLE to use when the pattern requires one to drop to a 3.75mm needle to work the underarm/body. Mine are all overly long or way to short, and the sizes available to buy are all either one way or another. I have been "on" this one project forever, and keep coming back and back, trying to get it. Please...????

My go to is usually 60cm, but if the stitches are too stretched, look up 'magic loop' and split in two and use a longer one. It should be the same length as the top generally. I've done the milo pattern on several occasions.

Thanks for this: shall re-read the magic loop thing-y. Have been knitting forever and am determined not to be beaten by the wretched thing!! Do you need to drop a size needle, or could I get away with using the 4mm? Thanks!!

If you are a tight knitter, yes go larger needles as it is a close fit item, Magic loop, check youtube and use the pause/back buttons as much as you need. I use that method all the time and yes in the beginning it was a bit difficult to get my head around!

Very good value as the creator provides several cable options. Fun to knit too!

It's available on RAVELRY, but her name is KELLY HERDRICH: should be able to google her, or simply type in "IN THREES" knitting pattern. On PINTEREST, there are a lot of examples of it. Good luck! I've heaps of copies, but it's illegal to pass them on or sell them: she has the copy rights, as is normal.

Hmmm I think you may have mixed your patterns. Georgie Nicolson is the designer for the 'Milo Vest'

Yes try and Learn magic loop - May take a little bit of practice but well worth it once you have mastered it. I use it frequently for all sorts things and saves having to find the “just right” length of cable especially when knitting baby and children clothes.
Milo is a great pattern to have and once mastered it can be adapted in numerous ways.

Why not use double ended needles??? If the item is small, use 4 ie stitches of item evenly spaced on 3 and use the 4th to knit with. If the item is large, just add sufficient needles to have stiches evenly spaced on the needles securely ie so there not so many that they fall off the end. Look in your local op shop. They often have a good selection for far less than buying new.
