Router drops SSID

#Post

Hi - I have a standard Spark fibre modem/router.
It has been progressively dropping the normal 4G SSID to the point now where we can not see it at all. Can connect to the 5G though. However our older Brother printer can not even see the 5G SSID but still picks up our neighbours signal.

It appears that something has caused the usual SSID to just disappear. Have checked with BigPipe and no issues at their end.

Any suggestions on causes and solutions ?

wifi in the modem maybe crapping out.
wifi is 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz as against mobile terminology 4G/5G ie 4th Generation and 5th etc
not surprising printer doesn't see 5Ghz SSID as they often don't support 5Ghz at all, especially older ones...

I presume you have tried pulling the power from the modem, often sorts things out. Next step would be to factory reset it... but that would undo any custom SSIDs and wifi keys...

I dont know if this is related or even relevant, but my older laptop would not recognise the Spark wireless router when I got home from work today.
Did the usual reboots to both devices and still nothing. I then had a tootoo and changed the encryption type from TKIP to AES and away it went.....
