When he applied to the Tenancy Tribunal to get the $1950 bond back, he discovered he had missed a two-month deadline to submit a form which was not signed by the tenant.

He had tried to contact the woman through family members, without success.

“There is no claimable bond on $23,000 of uninsured damage, because MSD will not share tenancy contact details with the Tenancy Tribunal,” Atkins said.

He said he was not opposed to having MSD clients as tenants, but the experience had made him wary of dealing with the ministry.

Sue M.S.D. as an implied contract?
Their "wrap-around services" don't seem to include any concern for the behaviour of their clients and waste of tax-payers' money. Only landlord now remains as H.N.Z., which also doesn't care about spending money.

Yep, lots to unpack here and we'll probably never know the full details.

Interesting comment on parking on the new listing for this:

"Current tenants park 10 vehicles and a boat"

Cheaper to leave the house empty.
The tenancy laws are unbalanced, unjust and never ever trust a Government department.

Quote { including couches that had been sliced, }
I have seen that once, the house had been raided by the Police & they sliced the couches apart looking for drugs. Because they found something, tough luck.
So, the lesson learnt was, don't lend your couches to anybody else....

Jacinda thinks everyone deserves a house - I disagree, this feral creature and her feral children dont deserve to be gifted a home, they can impose on family members for life as far as I am concerned or she could get a job and buy her own place to ruin. The landlord should sue MSD for the money owed.

So $1M house @ 2.3% interest only is $23kpa
So what's worse? $23K interest payment or $23K interest plus $30K damage?
The balance has swung with ultra low interest rates.

Well clearly the landlord can't afford to leave it empty, hence being up for rent again. Plus he's got $ 23K to recover remember...?

All this "leave it empty" crap is just crap - all those mum and dad investors need someone to pay the mortgage and don't have half the median salary lying around.

Never ceases to amaze me how many of these tenants seem to leave the property such a mess with hundreds if not thousands of dollars worth of ruined/ soiled goods and clothing lying around. What are the kids wearing if you have piles of clothing left scattered around the house. Toys broken or discarded household items . I guess they head off to Winz for an emergency grant to find the next purchase?
