Crochet dishcloths

#Post
1

Hi all, a workmate has asked me to make her some cotton crochet dishcloths. Reasonably easy to make and I can knock one out in around 40 mins.
I like to use 2 strands of 8 ply cotton so they're nice n thick. This means the yarn alone costs $5 per cloth, which seems a lot for a dishcloth to me. So those who sell them plz tell me what yarn you use, size and how much you sell them for :) I'd like to ask a fair price but have a tendency to underprice my work and end up in a picked when I can't source materials at the same prices as previously :)

I am a knitter and a crocheter, and I've only ever knitted dishcloths, and they seem to take me quite a while, but are what I all "mindless knitting". I only use one strand of 8 ply and if I was selling them I would be asking at least $8 to $9 for them. I'd be interested in crocheting some. What pattern do you use?

Thanks Kauka :)
My dishcloths are pretty simple - start with a chain of 25 plus turning chain then do row upon row of whatever stitch I feel like - usually doubles. Occassionally throw in a pretty row eg shells and put a frilly border on if feel like it :) I'm very much a make it up as you go crafter

Okay, thanks for that. I will give them a go as I know they will be much quicker than knitting them. I get 3 cloths out of 2 x 50gm balls of 8 ply cotton usually, just to give you an idea, and I only use cotton that I pick up cheap at op shops etc

Yeah, I think I'm going to have to start waiting for sales and looking at other sources

You can, or could, buy dishcloth cotton at Uncle Bills and The Warehouse which is probably a bit cheaper

It seems pretty cheap on Hobbii but you have to take into account the shipping cost.

I've never heard of Hobbii! Looks great! Are prices in NZD?
