Freeview box?

| Hi guys, not quite computing but I'm sure the experts on this MB are well informed on the subject. We've decided it's time to ditch Sky as with Netfix etc. all we really watch is the News. Would like to replace it with a Freeview box that's able to record as well. I'm keen on avoiding dodgy boxes with brand names I don't recognize and what appears to be very non-intuitive clunky software that would drive the wife up the wall and make my life a misery! I don't mind spending a bit of coin for the right box, any suggestions? sr2 - 2021-02-13 10:15:00 |
| The Vodafone TV box is good, everything comes over the internet. gyrogearloose - 2021-02-13 10:24:00 |
| We ditched Sky as well for a Vodafone TV box. About $150, gives you a bunch of channels without ongoing bills and comes with Netflix, Neon and TVNZ etc apps, so you are all set up. Better quality video than the old DushTV Freeview box I used to have. If you have fibre, then VTV would be my recommendation gblack - 2021-02-14 09:06:00 |

| With VTV box the Freeview streams are sourced from Sky. Maori TV and Te Reo are therefore SD only rather than HD available via Freeview DVB-T. spyware - 2021-02-14 12:16:00 |

| I am happy with the Freeview Plus and I'm glad to have returned the Vodafone TV back to them. ttaotua1 - 2021-02-14 18:28:00 |

| I use the Freeview Superbox A2 a 1 TB Recorder and prefer it to the Vodafone TV. The interface is much faster especially scrolling thru the screens to record and delete programmes. The remote is much simpler too. The other problems with Vodafone is that due to licensing agreements some programmes can not be recorded or then are also not available on TVNZ on demand. After some time this becomes quite annoying as it affects about 10% of your viewing content. Playback of programmes is not always reliable often when you pause a programme then press to play again the programme jumps back to the start.
