Spark Wireless Broadband Offer

#Post
1

Just received a letter from Spark offering a change to wireless. If others receive this make sure you read the last paragraph of the letter carefully - "Unless we hear from you by 22 Feb 2021 we'll courier out you free connection kit around 23 Feb" ? So if you don't tell them "no" you will get it whether you want it or not.

What sort of connection do you have now?

It would be worth considering Skinny instead of spark, as it uses the same network, but may be cheaper.

I'm on Skinny 4G and it is very fast. I was on ADSL before that which was pretty quick, but the phone line had a fault so changed to 4G and was pleasantly surprised at the performance.

Unless the law has changed it is illegal to only offer an opt out clause. They have to ask you to opt in .
Air NZ were made to change the conditions of their flight insurance contracts some years ago for the same reason . You were automatically purchasing flight insurance unless you ticked the no box.

That is why I posted the details, as I wanted to alert people to the fact.

They have been doing this for sometime. It caused a great deal of unnecessary stress to my elderly neighbours when they got the same letter last year.

Also another point with some of these letters is now snail mail can be slow and people may be away from home for a few days often they don't get the letter until the date stated in it has passed or is very close to passing.
