Hi, can anyone tell me if the handheld machines are any good? for a quick job, and what sort of thickness do they do. My machine is not out permanently and lately I have had lots of little jobs/ fix its to do. any other suggestions.

TIA

I had one years ago Sat3, we lived in a mobile home with limited space.

That one had like a running stitch much like an over locker stitch. So if the right end was pulled it would simply undo.

I would never have one again..

I don't know what the new ones are like.

Id probably change furniture around so you have a space to have your machine out permanently

I know I'm not of much help lol

Your machine used a chain stitch, and yes, pulling the end would undo the seam and quickly, but threading the end of the thread through a loop would have worked to lock the seam. Overlocker stitches don't come undone that quickly, sadly!

If you were in Timmers I could do them for you.. Is doing the repairs by hand out of the question?

My suggestion is line up all your repairs, get your sewing machine out and do the whole lot in one hit. My machine isn't out permanently either and this is what I do. To save changing the thread all the time I sew all the repairs that need the same colour together then change my thread and repeat.
