Smart watch for health.

#Post

I want a smartwatch for health purposes that would have a GPS and possibly ECG. Would prefer not to have one that bugs you all the time to subscribe to extra fitness and health software.

They don't bug you at all. The only watch
that has ECG is Apple *I think* . And then you'll need an apple phone also.

I suggest you do a LOT of reading up on the various offerings.

Any with ECG well be expensive. What's your budget.

I have atrial fibrillation and thought if I buy a smartwatch I may as well splash out the extra on one with ECG. Don't mind paying around the $1000 dollar mark. Have read up on the Fitbit 4 but some of the reviews are not that good. Like wise the Apple watch. I have an Apple SE phone but dont use nearly half the apps on it likewise a smartwatch if I got one so looks like the Apple Watch maybe the way to go.

Far as I'm aware the apple watch is the only one officially certified to do readings on Afib..
I have a Fitbit 4 it's fine but won't do that has no ECG. Perhaps the Fitbit Sense might do it but you'd be better off with the Apple watch id say.

They keep getting better

TechSpot: Next Apple and Samsung smartwatches could feature non-invasive blood glucose monitoring.

That is huge if they could do an accurate reading. Hate pricking my finger to do blood tests each day. BTW I just purchased a FitBit Sense and the ECG is now FDA approved.

Hmmm ok. What prompted you to buy the Sense rather than an Apple watch ?

New Apple Watch $699 for the wifi version which ties into your phone, $899 for the cellular one. My mum is looking at getting one for similar reasons. Anecdotal stories out of the US where the watch has saved people. Telling them to get their backside into the emergency room now.

Not properly certified ones guaranteed to give you believable readings. The OP has Afib. I'm sure they don't want some Mickey mouse watch.

Apple watch also has "fall detection"

A fabulous safety feature!

Hi Nice Lady. The Fitbit had everything I needed regarding the health apps along with GPS tracked for walks I do. It was $200 cheaper than the Apple 6 but still a high end enough watch to give a more accurate readout I can rely on. I also wanted to support a smaller player in the market other than Apple to share the money around.

Ok. You know that the Fitbit Sense will not run for long if you use the 'onboard' GPS ? Make sure you disable it after the walk - or you could use 'assisted GPS' which links the watch to your phone without needing to use the built in GPS and thus uses a lot less power - it'll mean you have to take your phone with on on the walks tho. I guess that'll work with an Apple phone. I think you'll have to charge the Sense every day anyway tho. Oh yeah Fitbit is no 'small player' it's just been purchased by Google.
