Bernette people - can you tell me anything about

#Post

them please? I have just bought a used one, 440, for a young friend, and i can't get it going. The bobbins seem too big - when I put one it it seems to be too 'fat' if you get what I mean. Are they meant to be like that? I think it needs a new belt too, so I will look at that. TIA.

There are some plastic cone spacer things that you put inside each thread cone to make them fit. Or you can use 4 standard cotton reels.

Is that what you mean???

They might be missing and should be easy enough to buy. Talk to you local bernina shop?

Here the second picture where she is pointing to the plastic thing, that’s what I mean!

I have a Bernette 134D and I have these things to put inside the thread cone. There are some other round discs you can put underneath as well.

I do recommend calling a bernina centre though they should be able to help you.

Love my bernina and my bernette.

The OP is saying the BOBBIN is too big. OP just go to a sewing centre and tell them what kind of machine you have and ask them for the correct bobbin.

lol ok. The bernina bobbins are flat on the sides, whereas some other machines are curved. But yes a trip to the sewing machine shop should help!

If it is an overlocker - no bobbins, just reels of cotton on the top. If a sewing machine, has both bobbins below and cotton reels above. Clarification could be helpful.

I have had the machine serviced and it came back with some bobbins. So problem solved. They cost $5.50 each which surprised me. Thanks for all the input folks.
