Can not print PDF?

#Post

I don't know why, but just as I am needing some urgent docs printed, my printer won't print them... PDFs. It has never had this problem before and I can print everything else! Please help!

would be helpful if you provided some details, like, what kind of device are you printing from? what pdf reader? what printer? what happens when you try? any error messages?

There are too many possibilities given the lack of information... simply complaining that [XYZ] isn't working, is not helpful for anyone...

Try printing from the Print icon within the PDF rather than the File, print pulldown command.

oddly enough yes - and yet I still can't help because you haven't shared any useful information about the problem your having... I guess it wasn't that urgent...

That's plenty of cluey ones here, just most of us aren't psychic.

Some people don't understand the need to know what program you are using, the fact that error messages come up to help you troubleshoot an issue and think vague questions should be diagnosed at lightspeed from minimal information.
And then complain when they are asked a couple of questions back....sigh...

What sort of computer are you using?

Proper diagnosis does need specifics of exactly what is or isn't happening. But two things that come to mind are that if it is on the internet, you may need to download it to the local computer before printing. Or if the print option is greyed out then the file may be set up as read only with no permission to print it.

What operating system? Windows, MacOS, Amiga, Linux, BSD, RISCOS, Android?

Yes, this had been my thought - in my work I find some NZ govt documents are like this. Can't print, can't covert to Word, can't edit in any way using Adobe Pro.

What programme are you using to view the PDF document?

probably not meant to be printed. Do a screenshot and see if that prints.

I have never heard about a PDF which wasn't ment to be printed. Edited -yes, printed- no.

It happens sometimes with open access articles or other material where the copyright holder is making the information available but doesn't allow printing. You can still screen shot the page, but in doing so you know you you are breaking the rules.
