Sewing Question

I have a pattern I want to make up and have stretch corduroy that would look great, however the pattern doesn't mention stretch fabric. It's a simple sleeveless tunic, so could I use stretch fabric or not?

I would if its 95%cotton and 5%elastine or near enough.

I definitely would! Make sure you have the nap running in the same direction for every pattern piece. Good luck!

I was going to mention that but I cant remember which way the nap goes on corduroy, I do know its up on velvet because I got it wrong (only) once.

Thanks for the encouragement, I will give it a go. My only time with corduroy was a dark maroon bibbed long dress and jacket back when I was a teenager. I made that mistake with the skirt pieces which ended costing a fortune.

Better to use stretch fabric instead of nonstretch fabric, than the reverse where you need the stretch, and have used non stretch by mistake.

have also been and done that in my early years of sewing.. just like not putting a pin at the end of a buttonhole and then slicing through the dam thing with the quick unpick... never again haha

Also make sure the fabric has weft strtetch (from side to side, not up and down). Nap that is smooth when you rub your hand up it has a richer colour than the other way around.

I might have tried that kittycatkin, had I known. I went and bought a huge amount of fabric to replace my mess.
