Has anybody had one of these and any opinions?

Depends on your expectations.

Personally I wouldn't bother, IMO you're better off either going for a non-smart phone or spending a bit more for a better model of Android phone

If that's all you can afford well I guess you could buy it but it's got a very poor camera, very minimal ram and storage space and TBH it's going to be a disappointing experience. Sorry.

Personally I would spend a bit more and get something a lot better. There are quite a few much better phones for $150 to $200. Eg for $189 you can get something like an Oppo A5. 3Gb RAM 64 Gb Memory 6.5" screen, Quad Camera, 5000Mah battery, Octacore processor etc (Alcatel has 1Gb Ram , 8Gb memory)

Thank you for your replies. I gather from that that for texting and the odd call it would be OK. What about such things as downloading Z, BP, Covid, etc apps?

love this 4 star review on NL website
"Finally, a 3G 4-inch Alcatel smartphone that works well. If you found your Alcatel Pixi 4 or Alcatel U3 excruciatingly slow then this is the solution. With a generous 8 gigabytes of built-in memory and the efficient Android 8 (Oreo) Go Edition it only goes slowly some of the time - a vast improvement on the Pixi 4 and U3."

CIA use Alcatel phones.
The standard menu on early Alcatel phones indicated an innate complexity which was not designed for public use.
Not only could they not be hacked but could not be comprehended either unless you had years of code and cipher breaking experience.
