3 | It isn't the machine that is important. The difference between actually using an industrial machine and using a domestic, is minimal, but car upholstery techniques are fairly specialised. It might pay to find a local car upholsterer and ask if he can look over his shoulder for a while. He'll learn heaps. Actually learning to physically use an industrial lockstitch machine isn't all that difficult, but getting good at it takes a bit of time. First lesson is to not thread it up at all, but sew at varying speeds including flat out, on a long strip of material, (joined at the end making a circle) just to get used to the speed and the action of the pedal. If anyone tries to teach a beginner, just sewing 5cm at a time, slowly, is 40 years out of date... socram - 2020-12-28 20:41:00 |
