I had soap powder residue on my black t shirts.
I put 2 tablespoons of white vinegar in rinse cycle.
They came out really good.
Am now using liquid to wash my clothes

Hi Put a washer cleaner through your machine, you've got a buildup of soap powder. That should fix it

we just use the budget stuff, works great. It’s a clear bluey colour. Be careful if you go for the milky coloured liquid ones (was it reflect???) you end up with the same problem.

I use Persil liquid and measure it carefully.

Also if you wash in cold water all the time it pays to do a hot water wash periodically.....with no clothes in, go right through the cycle. I always use white vinegar as the the fabric softener. Commercial fabric softener can be a cause of marks so avoid it. I used Pams Budget liquid and it was fine. Use only the amount they say.

Recently I have been refilling my containers at the Sustainability Trust (Wellington) with products from

https://www.ourecoclean.nz/

I got the liquid clothes washing and it uses a small capful for each wash.

If you are getting residue from the soap powder in your wm just think how it will be clogging the pipes in there as well. *Been there, had that. Expensive to fix. Change to liquid, and maybe put a cleaner through your machine. Dettol have a good liquid one at the supermarket. I use it on my front loader.

Also, turn clothes inside out when washing, that way if there is any residue it mostly collect inside the clothes, especially important with dark clothes.

Do you use the minimum amount of cleaner? Remember when they were all professing to have doubled the strength so we could halve the amount used. I think it was a rort , but however, I have a husband who thinks more is better, no matter what the subject.
I have a feeling it might go back to his childhood when they were fairly poor and everything had to be rationed as much as possible. It’s like he’s saying silently that he can afford to use more, so he will.
We use the earthcare liquid products that are not cheap, but they don’t leave a residue.

this use to always happen to me, when I put the powder down the center part of the machine, now I just sprinkle it all around the clothes and don't have that issue any more.

When using powder I dissolve first in a large jug of water and pour into the machine. I have recently changed for dark clothing to Blackwash, it's a liquid and smells lovely.

consumer did a test of washing powders recently, for cleaning ability.. I had been using essentials laundry powder 4kg [countdown I think].. & had been complaining to partner that washing was starting to look grey.. well it seems that particular one - I would have been better off just using water.. Persil came out on top

We wash our clothes far too often. Symptom of a consumer rich society. Like lawns...

The powder hardly gets time to dissolve in these modern machines. The wash is over in no time. Our WM has a soak cycle. I usually soak for 1/2 an hour, 76mins per wash cycle. I don't think the 'short' washes actually wash the clothes. The washing powder needs time to work.

I put ours on handwash. It takes 54 minutes. If the machine is in a good mood.

Don’t overfill your machine with clothes

For many years I always used Persil powder,( less than the recommended amount) but the last few years began finding undissolved?particles in my lint collector. Switched to Surf liquid( again, less than the recommended) and never had a problem since, and clothes perfectly clean.
I wonder if they're saving money by putting more fluffers and fillers in the powders.

I don't think so. I believe it is what I have stated in my last post. The washes are too quick today, everybody is in a hurry, wham bam thank you maam, set to 30min wash and out the door to work. The powder doesn't get time to dissolve and work properly. Using liquid the 'dissolving' has already been pre done.
