How can this happen?

I have a hotmail and gmail account. My Facebook is linked to my gmail and all my notifications go to gmail. But as of this afternoon my FB notifications are turning up in my hotmail account. I have not changed anything. This is happening unbidden by me. Why and what can I do?

The big system has worked out the connection and obviously shared everything. As gunna-1 has already said on here many times, once they have your dots all joined up, you have lost any privacy that you though you had.

Any other email intended to your Gmail ended up in your Hotmail address?

BTW, Hotmail brand has been phased-out. Microsoft announced that the new mail system is now called Windows Live Mail

No. Just FB notifications. I checked FB and my gmail is still listed as email

There's been a global issue with gmail, perhaps that upset your setup and it will all come right.

I am annoyed about the hotmail situation. When I signed up to hotmail it was just hotmail, now it has been bought out.

rebranded is probably a better word, it's still owned by Microsoft. Don't see why it should be causing you any grief though, hotmail addresses still work fine

No, but back in '96 when I signed up, it wasn't microsoft then.

Yeah that was back in 1997 - it might be time to get some help if your still annoyed by it....

I thought you were referring to the hotmail to Outlook.com rebrand 2010ish...

Also that. The interface sucks now; it operates really slowly unless you are on a high end machine.

Gmail has had some major outages this week, so possible that Facebook had your Hotmail account as secondary or recovery email address that it switched to when email to Gmail started bouncing?
