Does anyone in computing know re money transfers

#Post
1

I have been told some money transfer outlets are safe. The main Western Union in Tauranga isnt working. A friend says she uses something like World Remit. Computer security wise how safe are these? My bank sent money gift before but made massive error the second time (kiwibank) so stopped sending at all. But in Covid times....

What do you cyber geniuses know?

Need to send or receive money between New Zealand and another country? An international money transfer is a quick and secure way to pay someone overseas from your account .

Always check user reviews first. NOT the ones on their own website....any idiot can add that to their own site...3rd party review sites.

OFX is another one I use. If sending large amounts (over $20K or more ) it pays to find a rate on their website then call them. They can often give a better rate.

I usually check the rates on XE or Transferwise, and have used both, no problems at all.

This is very helpful. Hmm there are worlds I know nothing about! The way my bank makes me feel like a criminal when I even ask about it........ Hence son may now get some presents once in a while!! Thanks you all.

Banks will rob you blind on international transfers. The likes of XE will save you big $ over the robbing banks and pay pal.

Transferwise. You can do Western Union without going into a branch.

I have been using Transferwise for quite a while and found it very good and easy to use.
Even easier if you set up your own account with them.
I use them mainly to transfer money to and from Australia.
The process time is usually only a few hours.
I also have one of their Mastercard debit cards and use that for foreign currency purchases as the conversion rates and fees are much more favourable than what my NZ credit card achieves and also better than Paypal .
