Auckland Rates Rising

#Post
1

From NZ Herald
"Auckland Mayor Phil Goff has today announced plans to raise rates by 5 per cent next year."

Water has cost more over the years, unlike in Taumarunui where it is free of charge.

Sooner or later everyone will have meters, they have started already, Waikato for instance.
Your rates are cheap.....go look up some random houses round the country and see....Te Kuiti - $3900, Waikato $2900, Canterbury $3400 and such, all a lot lower CV too. Whereas my son in Waitakere is now paying $1695 a year in rates. 5% ? pah....

Why should the rates continue to go up x2 the inflation rate?
Too many useless bureaucrats getting paid far too much to accomplish SFA.

Since a climate emergency has been declared, Council Rates need to be replaced with a Poll Tax.

This madness of subsidizing people to consume finite resources has tto top.

New Zealand is turning into a nation of bludges where now only 3 out 10 households are net contributers.

the rates rebate is a set amount.
If the rates increases the rebate does not, so the % increase is greater for those on low incomes.

So simply because councils generally buy things that aren't included in the CPI basket and have been increasing more than bread and milk.

Its a fact of life like taxes. I don't mind paying to live where I choose and have services I need especially clean potable water.
