Router recommendation with Vlan support

#Post
1

I'm looking for a router with good parental controls and must support Vlan tagging from my fiber modem.
My spark one is getting unreliable and I want to upgrade.
Any recommendations please? Most people in shops and sellers on here don't know what Vlan tagging is.

Unreliable how? Had mine for 5 years now, not with Spark anymore, and it's still fine.
Sure it's the router?
And ask on Geekzone, they'll give better advice.

And what makes you say that ? GeekZone is good yes but so are the techs who lurk around here. If you want to insult people why don't you just go talk to yourself in the mirror.

I like drayteks. Try a computer shop, the big chainstores wont have them.

I assume you mean VLAN tagging from the "Fiber Box". As per above what do you mean by unreliable? Internet drops out? Wifi drops out?
VLAN tagging is pretty much supported by most newish routers these day (I've tested Asus, TP-Link, Draktek, edgerouter, D-link etc).
To Bitsnpieces - have used draytek before I think it was 2860 - unfortunately had to pass it on as it did not handle gigabit internet, great unit if you only running 20/100.
My current setup is an edgerouter router with a few wired access points - main one being a Tri-band TP-link modem (only used as access point although it would VLAN TAG no problem) - excellent coverage by this unit.
Cannot comment on parental control as I do not require this...

I got a nice Asus RT-AC59U V2 router for $15 with my Stuff Fibre gigabit upgrade. The parental control features are quite neat, you can even nuke all internet from a phone app which is a nice thing to threaten errant children with. :)

I have mostly done Mikrotik, not expensive and can do everything we have ever needed of it. We have a network of 20 sites around the country linked up and all running Mikrotik and never had a problem with them. we use anything from old RB450G through to RB1100, and now days it is mostly a variant of the CloudCore Routhers
