Small Business Rentals- Pay to play the radio

#Post
1

"They said as XXXX was a business it needed a licence to play the radio in its stores.

“I think it was $179 to play the radio in the shop,” XXXX Pizza owner xxxx told Seven Sharp.

He’s not alone, APRA stated that other businesses such as bars, shopping malls, gyms and dance schools all have to pay to listen."

That rule/regulation/stupid idea, whatever you want to call it, has actually been around for years. I can remember my boss telling me about it 30+ years ago.

Are building sites included, especially those where radios can be heard a light year away?

if thats the case then the radio stations should play music that youre paying to listen for all day, not stupid advertisements.

True, many illegally stream music from youtube instead.

The best way by far is by playing live concerts. Unless you’re a major artist, royalties from broadcast are tiny.

they may have changed it over the years, but i understood it that to play the radio was free because the radio station pays the royalties. its only when you play cd's/mp3's etc that your required to pay.
