#Post

If I am in the middle of typing a long email, then the whole email which I had done so far, it goes - I would be at the end of it and just want to go to the top just like that, it disappeared. It's happened 5 times so far, yes, I have patience - it's run out does this happen?. Why? What am I doing wrong or the computer is?? Please enlighten me. Please.

Type it into a text document and copy that into the stupid email program. I find Thunderbird hard to use.

I don't. It's simplicity itself to use.
And the OP has yet to state what program or process they're using anyway.

Probably faster to pop down to the telegraph office and send a Marconi.

The P.O here in Cambridge probably does them. They're now an Italian Restaurant.

If its outlook, I've seen that before.
I beleive its this setting https://www.technipages.com/outlook-enable-disable-autosavin
g#:~:text=In%20Outlook%2C%20select%20the%20%E2%80%9CFile,Unc
heck%20it%20to%20disable%20it.

For some reason (probably a 3rd party addin, like teamviewer, or zoom) when it goes to save it crashs instead and loses the email entirely.

Marconi pioneered wireless radiotelegraphy, but didn't invent the telegraph. I'm confident current telegraph services use IP transmission rather than radio.

Save as you go, regularly, it will then go into the drafts folder. Real simple rule of thumb; Save (or Backup), as often as you don't want to have to recreate the lost info. Doesn't matter whether you're using an email client program or webmail, you can still save drafts as you go. Just remember to delete all the drafts that can sometimes accumulate once the email has finally been sent.

Just save as often as you don't want to have to retype what could be lost ie, when typing an email, or a document, spreadsheet or whatever, you'll be surprised how much typing and editing you could do in just a few minutes. It takes literally two seconds to click the 'Save' button, that's a heck of a lot quicker than trying to start over, and having lost your train of thought you never get the retype from memory the same as the original.

Save, save and save. And when you're finished saving, save again!!

The search function in Thunderbird is horrible.

One function makes the program "hard to use" ?

I am ever so sorry I have not replied - Extremely slack of my, I know, It seems to have fixed itself. I use xtramail but it comes through webmail.
It is all okay now and I trust it stays that way.
Thank you for all your efforts in replying to me, and very sorry again for not replying earlier.

Mine does it every so often using the same, sure have learnt to 'save' if writing a long email and it also seems to happen if the 'page' has been open for some time. I have 'you have been timed out' or similar flash across the screen and the email has been gobbled up never to be seen again. I wish I had knowledge of all IT things but most of it is like trying to read Russian for me.

Just type it into notepad or whatever on your computer then copy/paste it into the email. It won't dissapear.
