PB Tech Black Friday sale Wellington

#Post
1

Hi..does anyone know what the queues are usually like? Any over-nighters?

Check out the banner at the very top of the page:

https://www.pbtech.co.nz/

I'd never bother queueing for any kind of sale unless it was truly exceptional and I really needed/wanted that item very desperately - and I can't imagine such a scenario. PB Tech sales are Ok but they're not enough to encourage me to that extent.

Not too much this year, had a look at their webpage. Last year I was able to get a $599/699 Samsung S10e for my mum. This year seems like Fitbit (?) has a device reduced by 50% apart from that they are generally only discounted by 15-25%.

Out of all the sales they have every year Black November (and the following Cyber Monday sale) is when they put out the biggest discounts from what I've noticed over the years.

They usually have a selection of good loss leaders to get people in the door, but I know for a fact they work on super thin margins, so the majority of products aren't going to be heavily discounted. I don't think it's worth queuing for IMO.

Ended up camping overnight so son could be first in queue for the gaming computer he wanted. $600 off plus a pair of $1099 headphones thrown in (I can't understand $1k headphones!!) Will sell the headphones so it made a $3.5k computer very appealing. I'm glad he got it. The manager saw him there on Friday night and gave him a gaming keyboard for his commitment. Or stupidity. It was fun. Oh, the first other person to arrive turned up at 5am and by 7am the queue was a block long!

Call it a scam is a bit much. There are some items which have big discounts on them, that you will not find cheaper in NZ. It is true however that many items only have a small discount and you may well find them slightly cheaper elsewhere

Check Pricespy before believing anything.
And remember they have bad after sale service.

Not necessarily correct re the after sales service. YOU may have had a bad experience but most other people have not, myself included.

You're always harping on about their "bad' customer service, most people tend to disagree with you. Your bad experience isn't a good sample size.

Nah don't let intrade get to you. Hubby met him in person and he was very nice, very helpful, and exceptionally knowledgeable about cars and diagnostics in relation to an issue Hubby was having with his car at the time.

He was only a little crazy but in a nice way lol.

lol weren't they caught out putting prices up beforehand to 'discount' them back to the regular sales price a a few years ago ? They've had to pay some amazing fines thanks to the commerce commission, I'd avoid them personally.

In think Noel Lemons were doing dodgy stuff along that line. Not sure about PB Tech. If as you say we avoid them what's the alternatives? Other big box retailers? They any better?

ETA: You got it wrong anyway.

Check Pricespy first.....lots of these sales are really not...they crank the price up beforehand so they can claim it's reduced.
