Covid Tracer App no longer records.

#Post
1

I have a OnePlus 6T android phone and downloaded the Covid Tracer app some time ago and it used to do a QR scan very quickly the moment I pointed at the shop's poster.
For a couple of weeks it no longer does a scan and have to do a manual logging.
The app has been uninstalled and re-installed but still doesn't work.
I had an update toOxygenOS 10.3.6 on 01/09/2020 which may?? have happened at the same time as my phone stopped recording but can't be certain if that was the case.
If I scan other QR codes using camera it scans perfectly.
Have looked at camera permission and the NZ Covid tracer is included.
What next?

You could check the apps diary/log to see what date it stopped recording places? It keeps 60 days now.

Open the app and tap the little clock thing on the top left.

That's a bad thing?

Unfortunately, when you uninstall the app, you lose the recorded timeline.
I've only got the last week's details for the manual records so can't see when it stopped.
I've stopped permission and re-started this morning so will give it another go when I go to the shops later on.

Stores also have a pad to write your details in with something called pen . So no big drama at all.

Which takes a lot more time and effort and is a potential virus vector

And it's no where near as efficient.

Agree. Touch free scan is superior

Didn't scan at several shops but tried my QR Code app and that immediately recognised and recorded the code and named the URL so that aspect of it works ok.

True that.

There have been cases of creeps messaging people using their sign-in details.

Just emailed the help desk to join the trial.
At least I know it's my phone's problem and not me who's f***ed it up.
Thanks for everyone's help. That access to the help was not an east-to-find thing (apart from nice lady's post)????????????????

OP, silly early morning question I know but, have you tried scanning any other random QR code with another barcode scanner app? Just to make sure nothing wrong with the camera lens (dirt, scratches .. etc)

In the very first post they say:

Make sure you bring it to a rolling boil.

Got a message at lunchtime and a link to become a beta tester.
Downloaded the amended app and went out to try it.....no joy, didn't work.

The new app I installed this arvo was on top of the old app so decided to uninstall the amended app then reinstall the app to a clean phone and it's worked great.????????

Yep, you write your personal details incl email address down for them. What do you think they do with it? How gullible has the broader public become ... has Cinders realled dumbed you all down that much?

What do YOU think they do with it ?
Do you for some reason think that the majority of people are NOT honest and trying to do their best ? If so then I pity you for that.

I know what they do with that private data. They sell it as it has huge marketing value.

Here's my proof. I own a range of domain names and can thus use anything@mydomain.net. I recently visited a cafe and put my address down as cafe623@mydmain.net. I have never used that address anywhere else yet I am now receiving spam for a range of leisure related crap. So I know exactly what the lists are being used for.

Oh right my local cafe/bookshop/garage/bank is gonna sell names and phone numbers to someone?

Bull.

email lists are worth big money especially if they are selective. We are in the year 2020 you know - this is how marketing works these days.

Big money from a tiny email list from the local cafe.

*Nods* yep, yep.
