apps not sending notifications

#Post
1

My Nokia 5.1 suddenly stopped sending notifications from apps installed from Google Play (not the ones pre-installed on the phone) a few months ago. I finally got around to looking up what the problem might be and it turns out there was an update around then with a bug in the system that's caused this exact problem.

My question- and I'm not at all tech savvy so please, plain English!- if this is a glitch caused by a software bug on Android's part which I hope they're trying to fix, is there any point in me doing anything to fix it myself? Can it be fixed or should I just wait/put up with it? It's not the end of the earth for me, I'm not reliant on it, it's just things like RNZ breaking news and Geonet stuff that don't work. Annoying at times more than anything.

In order to answer your question perhaps if you provide a link to that info ?
Or you might remember in more detail what it said ?
A system update, (nokia ?) or an Android update ?
Whicever it was will more than likely, as you discovered, have a bearing on the issue.

ETA; have you gone into any individual app settings and ensured they're set to notify ? (just in case this update changed that ) ?

I found this info on a forum dedicated to this particular issue:

"Go to

Settings>Apps&Notificat-
ions>Advanced>Special app access>Unrestricted Data and choose the apps that you don't want to restrict. For example "Whatsapp". This worked, I hope it works for you all too"

Well that person said it works.

Seems it's an issue with a particular Nokia Maintenance and Security Patch release. So you need to get onto the latest one you can as this might contain a fix for the issue.
So try this:

Tap Settings > System > System update > Check for update to check if updates are available.

If there are any available updates then do them.

Below is a link showing the updates they've put out - are you on the latest one ?

Thanks, makes sense to my non-tech minded brain :) I'll have a look.
