Baby Yarn?

#Post
1

Is it possible to get lovely baby acrylic yarn? I want to knit for a friends first grandchild and I know the mother throws everything in the machine so won't bother with using wool. Very out of touch so hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction please?

Jan2242 Deramores in England have some lovely soft acrylics. two brands that I like are Stylecraft and James C Brett.

It used to be if you spent $100 you got free delivery, but I haven't brought for ages.

Please consider buying local , our wool shops are needing our support .
There are machine washable wools .
Again buying local means good advice available .

Please use wool for babies. There are a lot of machine washable wools around now.

Thanks folk. I looked at England but wow the freight is expensive from there. I'll see what I can find here then.

You can get nice machine washable wool which is much better for babies, especially when very young, than ‘plastic’ yarns.

Skeinz sell machine washable wool - I use their 8ply/DK for knitting babies beanies and people comment on how soft they are.

That looks perfect, and not too expensive either. Thanks

I don't like Acrylic for babies as it's not as warm as wool and can stretch. Lots of pure wool yarn is now machine washable, and that's what I use for my grandchildren.

You can also use sock wool which is machine washable and is usually a mix of 75 % or 80 % wool and 25% or 20% other - sometimes nylon. 4ply
Lovely range available on Trademe.

Mmm, I use sock wool, most is nice and soft for feet but hardwearing and a cinch to wash in the machine, so ideal for baby, or even adults.
