Greeting Cards - markets - Sell

#Post
1

Hi, does anyone sell greeting cards that they handcraft for markets. My MIL has made a lot and she does not know how much to charge for them. I guess without seeing them it will be hard to judge. A lot of detailed work in some of them and pop out ones. Has envelope and in plastic card sleeve for protection. Thoughts would be much appreciated. Thank you

Go to a couple of markets and see what others are charging and whether it is similar in style and quality and go from there. Mind you everyone thinks theirs is best.

Where do you get the stick on small fancy or plain lettering for hand made greeting cards to fit in eg a circle or square saying Happy Birthday or other occasion?

some of them do how book binders do & have silver or gold leaf & you press it.. google it - I sort of know, but making cards to that degree doesn't interest me.. I'm into embroidery..

I have a friend that makes them and also go to markets for crafts and sadly really sadly I see them and know a bit about the work that goes into these and seeing them for sale for 3 -6 $'s almost breaks my heart. I have cards from 65 yrs ago a time when cards I guess meant more and where very special, now days seems to be cheap is best a lot of the time. Sadly making money from hobbies or things like this have to be done more for enjoyment rather than sale. What about trying on TM

the reality is that mass production, made them cheaper & it confuses people that a machine can make something 'look' better.. and that a few that are hand crafted out of locally sourced materials - don't look as polished/finished or as what we have been to taught as 'good'.. I remember a paper maker using natural materials had problems with this in a small Nth Canterbury town I lived in.. he used to have seminars to teach people..

I have started making cards, it is really fun. Expensive to get set up. It is like any craft, you are not going to get its true value back. If you can recover your costs then great.

I am selling them for $6.00, there are a few cheaper ones that don't take much time and use very little product

Are you wanting Peelcraft? Available in oblong sheets, from most craft outlets, and from some bookshops. Price can vary, but generally between $3:50 - $7:00 depending on detail .

Looking for packs of die cuts/punch-outs. Used to get some from various traders in Hastings, and Taupo, but can't remember the Trade Me names!
Die cuts/punch-outs of shapes, birds, flowers, etc. in all colours.
Can anyone please point me in the direction of any trader who does them?

Hi, this is something that I am going to start selling on TM. I'm just in the process of going through all my papercraft and dies, to see what I can put together. I've never sold diecuts before, but I am selling other things I've not sold before, so if you want to add me as a favourite seller, so that you can keep an eye out, then go for it. (No obligations to buy if they don't suit you.)
