Interesting, so they got paid out $30K by EQC and didn't fix the damage.

Don't think 30k is going to fix those foundations. The owners probably realised that pretty quickly too.

Id but it doesn't look like falling off the foundations. Most other houses that age not in earthquake towns would not have flat floors.

Ring foundation is disintegrating, not sure what remediation is possible for that sort of thing. Dig out around the damaged areas and fill with concrete? I've lived in houses where the piles were so bad that you'd have to chase after anything you dropped, and a rolled up rug stopped the snow blowing in where the wall was falling away from the floor. Lots of fun trying to repair that sort of damage.

"potentially an easy fix" - so they could have done it for a better sale.

"easy fix" , nothing is easy about foundation repairs.

And tape it together until fully set.

The new owner has done some work on the property and in a few weeks it's back on the market.

Pity the old ad can't be seen any longer

^^^ Yeah, I was looking for the 'as is, where is' clause.

Cheers for that, but I was wondering if the new listing still had that same clause, or is the property now all tickety-boo?

Cheers SW.

I've only just seen this post, I was banned for a month, for combining the short forms of the words taxation and cinderella. I kid you not!

Went for a good price in the end by the looks.

Yeah loose unbelievable, it was the week leading up to the election.
I tried reasoning with Trademe that no political post's are not even in
their message board rules.

A guy in motoring posted a photo of his nice boat and said his tenants
had bought it for him. I posted I hope tax..... does not see this post.

Bang banned for a month!

Sorry Mals

Bumping this, as the sale price after the renovation came through this week.

$625,000. Two month turn around and a $185,000 increase in price. Not sure what the reno would have cost, but I can't imagine it would stretch to six figures.
