BIG icons on new/ rehashed websites

#Post
1

Whats with the new craze of huge icons & lots of pretty colors on new & rehashed websites.
Trademe & Facebook are doing it.
Just got pushed in to reviewing both new versions & it's like a dummys for websites look.
Big icons that chew up most of the screen to show stuff all of whats actually on offer.
It's like "Win 8/10 Tiles" all over again

You mean lazy programming & too tight fisted to run a PC & mobile version

You can resize your screen you know, I don't get big icons, cause I adjusted the browser view at my end.

Well your examples Facebook and Trademe both have mobile versions & apps...

I've never noticed what you described anyway.

FB came up with the option on my PC last week.
That specific computer is on win7, so no tiles anyway.
Ditched that option really fast

But why should I have to constantly adjust my screen size per website.
Some are crazy big & huge banners/ icons & others you nearly need a magnifying glass to read the text.
Oh hell, & then theres the grey lettering on dark backgrounds.
