carpet beetle eradication

#Post

we are looking at buying a house which has a bad carpet beetle infestation. We were going to recarpet everywhere and have the house sprayed but we have been told they are very hard to eradicate because of their lifecycle ... anyone else had experience with this ?

One house I bought had them. I removed all carpet. Dumped all old carpet and underlay. Vacuumed, bug bombed the whole place and started from scratch.

it seemed to, I only lived there for 4 years after but never had another problem. House was about 120sqm and I think I used 3-4 bombs. You could always get the professionals to spray it if you were concerned. If you are really worried just bug bomb the house every year or every 6 months (thats probably overkill lol)

Don’t forget to throw away the vacuum cleaner bag with any residue in it.

Try this

For best results I say do it before you move in. That’s what I did. I did the place once all the old carpet was ripped up and the floors were bare and house empty.

I used Kiwicare "No Bugs", did two coats round edge by skirting board - worked amazingly and that was about three or so years ago.

I did a renovation 5 years ago on a house with bad carpet beetle damage. The old carpet and curtains went into the skip in the first stage of the reno and we sprayed the floor with a Kiwicare bug spray. The new carpet was treated by the supplier, no more problems.

My carpet layer said best way to get rid of carpet beetle is fly spray.

Also consider laying a synthetic carpet rather than a wool carpet, as they will eat natural fibres like wool, but not synthetic materials.

We had carpet beetle, ripped up the old carpet, bug bombed and put new synthetic carpet in. That was 8 years ago. No problems since
