Do you blanch them before freezing, or just shove them straight in freezer as are?

I usually steam them briefly - same with broad beans.

One year my parents had such a big crop of peas they got sick of blanching them so froze the last of the crop unblanched. They found later that the unblanched ones were just not edible, they were so bitter due to an enzyme which the blanching gets rid of.
