How long would you cook a rolled stuffed chicken

roast? I bought one fromt he butchers today but it has no cooking instruction on and I forgot to ask. Doesnrt even have a weight on it.

I would at least give it an hour. I cooked one from Leonards and the instruction on it was one hour to one and half hours at 180c. If fan forced I would reduce to 160c.

Weigh it and then work out 35mins per 500g at 160degrees C

The best way is to use a thermometer, as this can take the temp in the centre of the roll, and gives a true reading - which can otherwise change depending on how long the chicken roll was out of the fridge or freezer.

This is especially good advice for new cooks......

And experienced cooks who may poo-pooh the idea, well, the head chef at the Ritz in London, in a doco a day or so ago, uses one (used on a venison Wellington).... it's good to check, even if only occasionally, but especially if you get a new oven... and it's how I found out there was a problem of one of my elements, checked, and found the reason it was taking so long to get to cooked temp was one element had gone....
