I had a lady contact me thru my dna results saying that her Gt Grandfather Phillip McGahan was related (sibling/cousin) to my Gt Grandmother Elizabeth McGahan.
I know my Gt Grandmother Elizabeth was born 1865 Cootehill, Co Cavan Ireland.Her parents are John McGahan and Mary Smith.
I am trying to find a link between Elizabeth and Phillip

Any help gratefully accepted please.

I have no information on Phillip at all, apart from his fathers name was John McGahan. This is according to a lady from Ireland/England. I have asked her for more info(over a week ago) so I can do more research, but haven't had a reply.

Philip left Cootehill during the 1870's and lived for a time in Manchester, England where he married and had two boys and a girl. After the death of his wife Philip returned to Cootehill with his youngest son, William McGahan. Philip is then thought to have married Mary Ann Smith.
Philip, Mary and William are shown in the 1901 census as living at House 14 Drumrooghill in Cootehill.
I think Philip was born between 1845 and 1850.
On his marriage certificate to his first wife his father name
is shown as John McGahan, and proffession as labourer.

I wondered if it might be.
The poster said that he married Mary Dawson in Manchester 1868. I couldn't find the marriage under his name but when I looked for Mary Dawson I found the one below with the spelling McGann

I did a search for this couple and came across a marriage certificate. I couldn't enlarge it to be able to read it but see that it is attached to an Ancestry tree. There are a number of trees for this couple but as I no longer have a subscription I cannot access them.
