non alchol drinks

#Post

I can't drink alcohol any more and needs ideas for nice drinks other than diet coke etc? Would be nice to be able to go out and order a nice drink for a change. Has any one got a favourite mix or cocktail?

depending on how strict you are with "no alcohol" Lindauer now has a alcohol free bubbly - although it is actually 0.5%. called Free - rose and white.
There are zero alcohol beers.
If at a restaurant, call them out and ask if they do any no alc cocktails.
Establishments need to get more used to serving no alc drinks, but this will only happen when patrons force them to by asking for them.

I like lemon lime and bitters, ginger beer, sparking elderflower and sparkling grape juice for special occasions (pop a strawberry in there as well lol)

The elderberry one I like is the ‘addmore’ brand.

I love grape juice but can't drink it - too much sugar and I react badly to that. Have tried the 0% beers and they are ok I guess, very bitter and not a something I would have more than one of. It has to be no sugar- as in added sugar. That is as lethal to me as alcohol (same thing I guess). Never noticed how little there was for non drinkers. Will spend some time on google and see what I can find. Thanks for giving ideas.

There is a range(3 ) of alcohol removed wines.Pak'n have them sometimes and all the Trusts shops in west auckland. You could try countdown..They're Edenvale. I don't think any restaurants etc would stock them though.
Most non alcoholic drinks are full of sugar.
There was a thread on this a while ago.
For me I like Soda, Lime & lemonade. You adjust the amount of lemonade, to suit your taste, normally more soda than lemonade.Throw a slice of lemon in and a straw and pretend its a G&T

I drink lime and soda, if I'm making it myself I'll crush mint leaves in in, if I get it in a bar they don't do that. It's not sweet, I don't like sweet drinks and most alcohol removed wines I find too sweet.
What I am going to try though is the alcohol removed spirits that are available, I think Seedlip is the one I'm thinking of. Thought that might make a good gin and tonic substitute.
ETA I've just looked it up, and there is a NZ made non-alcoholic gin from Ecology and Co. which I'm going to try instead of Seedlip. It says 'without alcohol, sweeteners or carbs'.

Here are some interesting and refreshing drinks - a good search term for more ideas is ”mocktails”:

I always order lemon lime and bitters when out and look forward to it because I don't have it at home.

I drink Aloe Vera from the supermarket at home, they do a diet one as well.

Bitters has alcohol in it, so if you really can’t tolerate any alcohol then you may need to take care with that (you only have a tiny amount though).

I had a look up about bitters, fascinating. Then I found that there are non - alcoholic beers. And best of all, this chap writes ' if you’re really brave, get yourself a set of the Fee Brothers bitters. The Rhubarb one dashed into a glass of Appletizer, or the Cherry one in Lemonade is just wonderful. 'https://www.independent.c-
