Urfa chilli and rose harissa - where to buy?

#Post

Wondering if anyone has managed to buy urfa chilli flakes and/or rose harissa in NZ? I’m coveting some ottolenghi recipes so would love to track some down. If all else fails I’ll have to wait until I’m in Sydney in Feb.

I have bought Urfa chilli flakes from Herbie's in Sydney. They are a mild, heavily roasted, chilli and very similar to Korean chilli flakes, which are what I use instead and I don't think I could tell the difference.

I have had no success in finding rose harissa, which is extremely annoying given that Ottolenghi seems to use it in every second recipe these days. I suspect it's something he has invented. He sells it through his web site.

Thanks. I have a local Korean shop so will get some chilli flakes in the meantime then will try and get some urfa (and hopefully rose harissa) when I’m in Sydney. Thinking we might make a trip out to Auburn for a Turkish meal so will definitely find some there!

Seems rose harissa is made with rose petals but I might try adding a bit of rose water to harissa and see what happens.

Rose Harissa is available online via Alexandras.co.nz (the brand name is
Alexandra's - which I could find in some shops but not the rose Harissa, so ended up buying from their online shop). I have had no luck with the chilli.
