GEDMatch sold

#Post

Sold to Verogen. We have to make up our minds if we want to continue with gedmatch because of the sale.

I voted no and removed my data. I recommend a good look at Verogen's site and their explanations, you may decide to stay with them.

I saw no reason not to stay considering Verogen will likely have certainly no worse data security that Gedmatch was able to offer whern they were recently hacked and probably much better, and would appear to be a much better bet as a business to fulfil the new agreement than the back yard business Gedmatch was, and especially as the T& C have little apparent difference to the same contract we all accepted when first joining and uploading to Gedmatch.

There is some strange kneejerk reaction in play and quite frankly, those who choose to leave now for whatever reason they may have won't be missed.

No of course they won't be missed I totally agree and there will always be more people joining up but i couldn't see a reason for staying since most of my brick walls have been breached and the ones that remain were not going to be helped by remaining in gedmatch.

You made it appear in your first post that the merger with Verogen was an issue and now you state you feel you have reached the end of usefulness that the service offers you and could have left at any time. Why the need to make a post about it?

It may be an issue for some people and it was for me in a way because it signalled it was time to leave.
