Have been invited to a tapas party and we are to bring 3-4.
It will be quite competitive with judging and point scoring, but maybe not so much after a couple of sangrias!
Anyone got some favourites that they are willing to share?

Catalan Mushrooms (tapas)

1 kg white button mushrooms
water
2 tab extra virgin olive oil
salt & pepper

Trim mushrooms and soak in warm water 2 hours. Drain, place in heavy saucepan and dry cook on low heat, tightly covered for 15 min. Remove lid, add oil and seasoning, cook gently until all liquid evaporated and mushrooms shrunken, shiny and firm. Dress with a little more extra virgin olive oil and sherry vinegar.

Serve cool.

Garlic Prawns

4 tablespoons good olive oil
4 cloves garlic sliced finely
1 med-hot fresh chilli, finely chopped (or ½ teaspoon chilli flakes)
200 g raw Australian prawns (de-veined and shells off)
Salt and pepper
Juice of half a lemon
1 teaspoon paprika
1 tablespoon parsley finely chopped

Put the olive oil into a cold frying pan and add the sliced garlic and chilli. Place the pan over a medium heat and allow the oil to gently heat up until it sizzles. Cook the garlic for 1 more minute. Take care not to burn.
Add the prawns, bring back to sizzling and cook for about 4 minutes, until the prawns are pink all over and starting to curl.
Season with salt and pepper and lemon juice, stir the prawns one last time and then turn the heat off.
Sprinkle with the paprika and parsley and serve hot or warm.

Mmm found out tonight that the competition are also doing prawns ...

Any ideas to beat them in this dastardly competition?
