#Post

I know it is not a recipe. But seeing it is a mostly a womens column, I thought I would ask.

Have not seen a good bottle of Sherry for ages. Are they still avaliable. Thanks for any suggestions.

So where are you looking? I would have thought any good bottle store would have what you're looking for

At a guess, you will need to go to a booze shop and not the supermarket. We buy the odd bottle of sherry for a friend from Mazurans (who do mail order), so can't say I have actually looked for it.
BTW, our friend who loves sherry is a male. Lol (mum did used to love a tipple or ten, but isn't keen on the stuff anymore)

You seem to have an odd idea of sherry. Have you looked in Glengarry's, or on line?

Never had a problem but as it is a fortified wine, you probably won't get it in a supermarket. I don't use it as a drink, (just in cooking) so not sure of the quality.

Shifted to drinking port now and again, but buy a 2 litre cask of McWilliams Tawny in Australia for about $12AUD.

No, there is not a great selection of sherry in this town. This is why I'm asking. Don't enter bottle stores as a rule. But if someone can tell a name of a good bottle of Sherry. I would do so, thanks very much, if you can. would be appreciated.

Harvey’s Bristol Cream is my favourite but maybe I’m biased because I’m from Bristol but whatever you buy make sure it’s Spanish - definitely the best, anything else is a poor imitation.

Yes, sherry needs to be Spanish. There is a wide range of styles and what you buy will depend on whether you prefer a dry, austere sherry (fino, manzanilla), or a sweeter one like oloroso, or a very sweet and intense dessert sherry like Pedro Ximénez.

I buy one recommended to me by a friend. It is fabulous. Its called Old Masters Rich Cream Sherry - its lovely to drink and I use it in trifles. You can only buy it at Henrys
