How much would you expect to pay for an Ancestry DNA kit? A 'special Christmas offer' advertises one for $109. I seem to remember I paid less than that a year or so ago. I'm thinking of giving my son a kit for Christmas.

The 109 special in Opening post is showing on ancestry.com.au so would be Australian dollars. Shop around and do conversions USD to NZD.

Work out which is the best in $NZ then log into the country site that offers the best buy to purchase. If you are already an Ancestry member scroll to the bottom right of the screen to change country site.

You can only get kits sent to NZ from the .com.au site. It will send you there the second you try to change the country on the delivery address. $88 AUD + $30 postage is the best deal out there.

I bought mine for A$99, plus $30 shipping, plus the exchange rate. From memory it worked out about NZ$160. Glad I didnt pay full price.

and check out the MyHeritage one too. For me and I did both they did give back slightly different results. MyHeritage came back with me being 10% Greek and my son was ecstatic about being related to some warring tribe from long ago..

No point in doing My Heritage, you can upload your raw dna data from ancestry for free.
