A simple Xmas

#Post
1

Done the family thing; large and small. This year, my partner and our dogs, a bottle of Verve, some tasty nibbles, empanadas or chorizo pie, fresh fruit, Baby Kapiti blue and hand made chocolates washed down with a nice Clearview Sea Red sitting under a Pohutukawa by the sea will do us. And if its raining we shall have the same but inside. So looking forward to the simplicity.

What are your plans?

I have a couple of bottles of the Clearview Sea Red in the cupboard, so might join in on that one!

Have family coming from overseas and love a houseful at Christmas - well any time actually but that’s my choice - will keep the food simple and share the cooking duties

With health restrictions I usually skip Xmas celebrations but this year will do a very simple picnic for my small family (3 adults, 1 toddler). It will be non alcoholic and all vegan. Any vegan suggestions for this non-vegan to make, would be appreciated!

We've done that sort of thing heaps. With and without a beach.

I make Rose Elliot's christmas nut loaf and have had it for years, it is delicious. White nutmeat with a strip of green down the centre so it looks attractive. Is cashews and I add a few pinenuts. It will be online if you are interested,

I think I will go to awoftam's place for christmas. Every year I try and simplify christmas, one year someone wanted a roast duck, oldies always want roast veges, someone doesnt eat tomatoes, weve now got a vegan and on and on . . .

It really is rather scrumptious - luscious, almost. I love it.

On daughter and partners boat in a nice sheltered Bay eating pre prepared meal of ham, seafood, salads, new potatoes. Xmas dessert. Then into the fishing.

Christmas lunch last year was fun.
We write everyones name (12 of us) and next to it everyone writes one item that they will make or buy for christmas lunch - even the 2year old had to make something (fairy sandwiches)
We also do secret santa which made christmas day cheaper for everyone and I know that I will get one present! we set a limit on the spend so op shop buying makes some fun presents.
