Looking for NZ Death Notices 1961 and 1969

I need to look up a couple of Death notices to look for family members to try and trace the Father of a cousin who came up on my DNA matches. Does this require a trip to my local library and are they easy to search for.
Thanks :)

You don't say where these events were.

As a Hutt resident you are lucky that the National Library in Wellington has the best collection of historic New Zealand newspapers.

In the Hutt, Petone library has the Evening Post and Dominion Post for most years (Microfilm).

https://www.familysearch.org/ has an extensive collection of probate files. For Wellington they are available up to 1967.

Probate files usually include a will which is likely to mention childrens names.

Thanks, both in the Hutt Valley. And I am 10 mins away from Petone Library.
I guess I will have to learn how to use microfilm, otherwise I will go to Nat Library.

Why not try the Deaths online first? If you have the likely surname it could give you some time frames. Capricorngirl

I have always found library staff very helpful. Last time I looked at fiche I asked for a reminder as hadn't used for many years and staff were great. Good luck.
