looking for information on John Gray. heres what we know.
his mother was Olive Mabel Bax.b.1885.
olive had a son, she named Percy. father n/r. 29th May 1902. Wairoa.
Olive married Charles White. 1907.
Percy was named Huatahi Aretea Kerei [John Gray] and turned up in the army in England where he married Marjorie Elizabeth Smith [1942]and came back to Wairoa with Marjorie.
we have a maori family wedding with John sitting in front as a 7 or 9 yr old.
would like info of his life from 1902 to 1942.
any help would be wonderful.

Oddly, there are some divorce papers there. Custody of three children given tp CPW but care of the 1902 son is not discussed.

I note the 1907 marriage is Olive "Mary" Bax
1907/2345 Olive Mary Bax Charles Philip White

The wife in the CPW army file is also Olive Mary Bax.
The "Mabel" name appears in this marriage:
1931/575 Olive Mabel Bax Alfred Price

The mother of the 1st two White children is "Mabel"; but the mother of the 1913 child is Olive Mabel.

Looks like Olive Mary and Olive Mabel are the same person.
