Just spotted this new NZ Genealogy site, does anyone know who is behind it? It looks awesome!

That would help, Google doesn't seem to have heard of it yet.

not sure how well it will go down as you have to buy credits after registering just to view the records

Their records are probably available at any city library. Didn't see anything, in the region I sought, that I could not get elsewhere.

Going by the list of Locations, looks to me as though it is information taken from Electoral Rolls.

this is how many credits it will use just to do a search which I feel is a bit unfair and similar to Scotland's People before they changed it to free search and only use credits to view the image

Credit based record access
Kinlist has a credit based "pay to access" system with no annual subscription or ongoing fees. Simply purchase credits which are then redeemed to permanently access records.

Accessing records is simple and cost effective - below is our pricing structure:

ELECTORAL ROLLS 6 CREDITS
HABITATION ROLLS 5 CREDITS
RESIDENTS ROLLS 5 CREDITS
DIRECTORIES 5 CREDITS
TELEPHONE BOOKS 5 CREDITS
SCHOOLS 2 CREDITS
MISCELLANEOUS 3 CREDITS

-------------------------------
--------------

I feel that once you have used up the credits it sound like you have to buy more so will make it an expensive site to use
