My oven has just put on a nice display of fireworks and sparks before dying (except for the grill) - where’s the best/cheapest place to get a replacement? Funds are short after my holiday and having to replace my car this year too.

Trade depot. Online store and actual stores. Great value. Here's a link to their ovens.

Do you have a place that sells second hand, refurbished stoves?
Haul out the electric frypan? I managed to make do with an electric frypan for several months, til I managed to save for a new stove. But I only cook for one.

Yes we do but they don’t have any wall ovens. The appliance repair guy is coming tomorrow to check whether it’s just the fuse or the element that has blown - fingers crossed because that should be a bit cheaper. I did find a Haier 5 function that’s new but clearance (handle is slightly scratched) so that’s my next alternative if mine can’t be fixed.

Fixed it - and new hinges too which saves me a second call out because he saw they also needed replacing so I’m pleased with that - probably saves me about $250

Excellent. I don't know about you but I hate changing appliances that I am familiar with, for the newer appliances that require a degree in computer science to operate, even the cheaper options.
