Stock, you recently did a great deal of work on my Thomas Jones parents post which I appreciate very much. . Today I found an Inquest Deposition File on Family search for Elizabeth Jones. died 1 Dec 1851 at Ballaratt. It made interesting tho very sad reading. Interesting is that the signature (Thomas Jones) resembles very closely the signature on my Thomas Jones marriage to Mary Ann Thimbleby. I wonder, do you think this Elizabeth infant fits in with your posts on my thread? Of course her mother would have to have died later leaving Thomas a widower before his 31-12-1853 re marriage.
Incidently Thomas states he is from Lancaster so I am eagerly awaiting his death printout to arrive now

Don't know. But you have an interesting find. I think he was of Launceston in Tasmania rather than Lancaster.

I think it is the deposition of "Thomas Jones of Launceston now of Ballarat." The child "One Elizabeth Jones, a child two years and seven months old was thrown under the wheel ..."

The reference to a daughter as "one Elizabeth Jones" is odd, but I guess the statement was drafted by someone who did this often.

Can't find a report in the Aussie papers, or an entry in the Victoria BDM.

Or at Victoria BDM.

I guess the infant Elizabeth Jones could have been born in Ballarrat or somewhere else in Victoria. Maybe even in Wales or England.
I wondered how the other infant fared in the accident, maybe died too and I havnt found it? I didnt find the accident in trove either tho im not great at searching that.
