Hi all, I have been trying to get the birth cert of a sister I have never met although we have the year she was born.
Have found one sister and a half sister but can’t find birth mother or older sister.
Internal affairs emailed then rang me to say her records are closed and did I know why, the only thing I could think of is she put a veto on her records.
Apparently that’s not the answer so does anyone have a idea of why the records would be closed?

Adoption, try Adoption service, Ministry for children.

A long way to go about id, you have year she was born. NZ birth index, go to NZ genealogy Soc and look at birth index year, look for possible names. good luck.
